◎简 介
内中央情报局探员纳森莫尔（劳勃瑞福饰）和他的搭档汤姆毕夏（ 布莱德彼特 饰）两人总是在一起出任务，在世界各地出生入死，从越南到柏林到贝鲁特都有他们的踪迹。他们每次出的任务都充满著危机和不确定性，这也让他们两人建立起非比寻常的夥伴关系。
但是这已经是多年之前的往事。就在纳森退休前一天，汤姆在中国大陆因为从事间谍活动而被逮捕，可是美国中央情报局因为害怕会酿成国际事件而不愿出面解救汤姆；
由于纳森早已不是情报局的核心人物，所以他必须透过许多以前的旧关系才能营救汤姆，可是他只有24小时的期限可以把汤姆救出来，纳森不仅要跟时间赛跑，而且他和汤姆之前的一些恩怨也浮上心头。
原来就在他训练汤姆成为专业情报员时，他们两人却同时爱上一个女人，这也同时危害到他们之间的友谊和他们的活动，到底纳森能不能救出汤姆？他们之间的关系能不能因这次的行动获得化解？
